A Legacy of Empowerment

Founded in 1997 by the Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, the Renzi Center was established with a mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore, learn, and create under the guidance of professional teachers and artists. The center operates independently as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all who choose to become involved.

Engaging Programs for Young Creatives

At the heart of the Renzi Center’s offerings is its free After School Program, available to all K-12 grade students in the Shreveport-Bossier area. This program provides four seven-week sessions during the school year, with classes held Monday through Thursday. Each day, up to 60 students attend classes that blend academic support with artistic expression. Academic classes include subjects like math and reading, while art classes encompass painting, short films, dancing, sewing, music, drawing, sculpture, creative writing, photography, and more.

In addition to the After School Program, the Renzi Center hosts a free three-week summer multidisciplinary arts camp every June. This camp offers participants the opportunity to explore various art forms and academic subjects in a fun and supportive environment.

Volunteer and Community Involvement

The Renzi Center thrives thanks to the dedication of volunteers who contribute their skills, knowledge, and encouragement. Whether it’s tutoring students in academic subjects, assisting in art classes, or providing mentorship, volunteers play a crucial role in making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of the children. The center actively invites community members to get involved and support its mission.
